How to style the Bomber Jacket!

#TheBomberJacket #ItstheBomb #Bombarded #BombsAway #Bombardiers #Bomberedit

For a few seasons now, I’ve seen the bomber jacket maintain its status as one of the most versatile and covetable trends, unshaken by the ever-changing nature of the fashion industry. From bloggers and editors to models and It girls, everyone has hopped on board at one point or another. So how best to integrate this iconic piece into your wardrobe? Read ahead for some suggestions…

Mani_October 2016_Neha Pandey Photography-48.jpgThe bomber jacket was originally created for pilots.  This garment moved into pop culture during the 1970’s and this winter the bomber jacket is back. Whether worn super-oversized with arms rolled up or shrunken ’90s-style, these guys work just as well with a slinky dress as they do with a pair of shredded jeans—and they’re also really, really comfortable which is always a win.

Choosing a jacket of a different material will instantly add a touch of class to any outfit. Throw on a black silk bomber over your favorite party dress and pair with some black heeled pumps, and you’ve got the perfect look for a night out. Here I paired this black number with a pair of patent Mary Janes and a pleated metallic green skirt creating a totally badass look which I love!

Mani_October 2016_Neha Pandey Photography-49.jpgPersonally, I suggest sourcing a great vintage find (in a shade like rose gold or blue satin) to pair with your newer pieces. In fact, the bomber jacket tends to look best when it’s a little worn in, and not too perfect.

Easy to layer over various outfits, bomber jackets are the perfect wardrobe staple going into fall. And did I mention they’re super comfy too and they’re available pretty much anywhere, at every price. For a no-fuss fall fashion look, style your bomber jacket with skinny jeans. Add a simple but luxurious knit, and you’ve got that “off-duty model” look nailed.

Mani_October 2016_Neha Pandey Photography-54.jpgTraditionally bomber jackets may have been limited to casual wear, but this season street wear and high fashion have well and truly collided. I’ve spotted some gorgeous silk and embroidered designs that wouldn’t look out of place at the hottest parties.

With such a versatile item of clothing, there really are no fashion rules. Be brave and experiment – confidence and attitude are really all you need to rock this look. Let me know what worked for you!

How to style Over the knee & Lace up boots

You don’t need me to tell you that everything looks different on a model than it does in real life. Over-the-knee boots are a biggie. On the catwalk, they look effortlessly stunning and easy to pull off, nonchalantly paired with a micro mini or a floating dress, cut up to the thigh. In real life, they’re a little trickier to wear — they make a statement, conjure up images of our favourite “Pretty Woman”, and don’t always agree with the rest of our wardrobe. Scroll through for the styling lessons and the shopping details to get you started.

Mani_October 2016_Neha Pandey Photography-34.jpgOK, I’ll admit: they’re challenging; but that doesn’t mean they’re not worth a try and that they won’t actually work with the right pieces, for everybody. Yes, every body type. They are the ‘IT’ boot for fall winter. These versatile boots come in a variety of materials and lengths and are guaranteed to look great with any outfit.

Mani_October 2016_Neha Pandey Photography-35.jpgWant to rock the ’70s trend but not a fan of the high-waisted trouser? Opt for a miniskirt and top, finishing off the look with a pair of suede boots. I opted for a suede miniskirt and a ruffle detail top from trusted Zara, finishing off the look with a pair of suede boots that match the skirts fabric perfectly.

Another big fall/winter fashion trend I’ve noticed on social media in the last few weeks is lace-up boots. There are so many different kinds: there are over-the-knee, super sexy lace-up boots that will make it look like you’re channeling Kylie Jenner. To take it down a notch, there are knee-high lace-up boots that look a little boho and fun. Here I styled mine with for a Saturday night out with the girls night out in a short metallic detail dress. Over-the-knee lace up boots give off a sexier vibe, especially when worn with a dress.Mani_October 2016_Neha Pandey Photography-61.jpg

Some things to keep in mind when shopping or styling your knee high or over the knee boots-

  • Quality first and foremost. Pick thigh high boots that look expensive, are comfortable and fit well. It’s a statement piece, a rare fashion investment, so do it wisely.
  • Mix and match textures. Leather thigh-high-boots look great against thick knits like a massive sweater dress, or an oversized cardigan. Suede thigh high boots look fab with a silky dress.
  • Peek-a-boo gimmick. Show just a tiny little amount of skin leg in either a pencil dress or skirt with a slit, or when pairing the THB with a mini dress or mini skirt, make sure their hems meet pretty close. To avoid the Pretty Woman channeling.
  • For office pair THB with a pencil skirt or dress, either with a tiny slit or not. The effect has to be that of dress over leather pants or leather tights with heels. No skin in sight. It’s a very fashion editorial meets street couture sophisticated office outfit.
  • For evening/dinner/fancy-schmancy encounter wear leather THB in black, with a black silk slip on dress, knee-length, high slit, lace hems, bare back, and add a fur coat over. Plus the inherent bling, which can be over-the-top opulent or just dainty, whatever floats your boat. It’s a dramatic incredibly sexy very tasteful outfit.

How to Rock Metallic- be it gold or silver or something in between

After a summer season rooted in 90s minimalism, this winter will be a welcome shot of color with sharp shoulders, corseted waists, oversized street wear and the puffy volume that is gaining fashion ground. It’s all about the loud trends for fall 2016 here, with lots of stellar content.

Mani_October 2016_Neha Pandey Photography-17.jpgThe metallic looks were all the rage on the catwalks as I noticed skirts, dresses, tops, pants and everything in between appearing in silver, gold, copper and more. It was a look I easily fell in love with. Once upon a time, the thought of shiny gold attire called to mind glitzy grandmas or Las Vegas party girls. However, thanks to an especially strong showing on Fall 2016 runways, metallics—specifically gold—are poised to be a seasonal standout.

Mani_October 2016_Neha Pandey Photography-12.jpgWhether by adding a touch of metallic fabric, embroidery or detailing, or creating a garment completely crafted out of silver or gold, metallic apparel is bold and makes a positive statement. If a little metallic is a good thing, than head-to-toe silver and black metallic certainly rocks! This ensemble of crop top and high waisted pants is nothing less than phenomenal. Echoing a disco wibe, this long line of liquid gold is meltingly luxurious in its opulence.

Mani_October 2016_Neha Pandey Photography-13.jpgThe ladies who lunch aren’t the only ones who want smart metallic gold suiting options. This stylish ensemble can take you from the boardroom to a glamourous evening out. Just swap your puffy crop top with a fitted black jacket, and you’re done.

Why I opted to for a crop top and pants pairing to show this trend is because the sleeves were a huge part of the fall/ winter 2016 fashion trends. And what better way than with this co-ord set. Add in the high waisted trouser that add length to the legs and you have a design that is rather perfect for the fall but might lead to frozen ankles come the chillier days.

Mani_October 2016_Neha Pandey Photography-14.jpgIf you want accented sleeves, you really should check out the collection at Zara and H&M, specially these metallic ones, these are divine!

So be daring, explore the trends and get ready to rock an explosive silhouette this winter.

How to wear Ruffles this Fall

Cascading ruffles lent a romantic vibe to many collections on the runway, notably high street brands followed quickly, where they poured down  blouses and dresses with tiny ruffle details on flirty romantic outfits or dark rocknroll edgy styles, making the Victorian Trend feel like a breath of fresh air.

Mani_October 2016_Neha Pandey Photography-20.jpgWhat is the Victorian Trend? It mean layers, lace, ruffles, turtlenecks, mutton sleeves, corset sihouettles– all designed and worn into either a romatic flirty girly version of the look, or into a more dramatic style, even edgy, with a dash of punk or rockroll.

Hello Downton Abbey and those dainty lace outfits, those beautiful embroidered necklines and pearls and flirty subtle ruffles. We clearly want to travel in the past, might as well climb the fashion broom stick sand go all the way to Victorian Age.

Mani_October 2016_Neha Pandey Photography-25.jpgHow to wear Victorian Trend in 2016?

The easiest way is a lace turtleneck ruffled white shirt, that looks fab with mom jeans, or cutoffs (for a cool casual style), or high waisted pants for office par example.

For a dramatic feminine but opulent take add pearls, and black velvet, and massive rings, and huge earrings a la Dolce and Gabbana.

For edgy styles that are more punk inspired opt for tiny round shades, and huge black hats, cowboy boots, and tons of jewellery. This is also a very spot on festival look.

And then there’s the simple Victorian take: a bit of sheer, white lace, ruffles in either a shirt, a dress, a skirt. Paired with a denim item it’ll be a very chic fresh look.

What I love about this trend is its ability to look dainty and feminine OR dark and literally Victorian period inspired. I love the look paired with black and dark bold lips.

Mani_October 2016_Neha Pandey Photography-24.jpgIt’s the perfect way to sweeten up any look. For a night out, slip on an off-the-shoulder ruffled dress or style a girly top with a pair of fresh white skinnies. Too sweet for your taste? Modernize the flounce with menswear elements, like with tailored trousers and brogues, or topped with a sharp blazer.

How to wear the Most Popular Fabric of Fall 2016- Velvet

There’s something magical about velvet. It makes us think of princess dresses in fairy-tales, like the one Snow white was wearing. Or it reminds us of Scarlet O’Hara in ‚Gone with the wind’ wearing her handmade green velvet gown. Velvet is the biggest fabric trend this fall and it screams luxury. Luckily you dont have to spend a lot to get this luxurious look. There are so many options available online that will have you spoilt for choice.

Mani_October 2016_Neha Pandey Photography-6.jpgIm wearing this trend in form of this gorgeous wine color velvet skirt. The 90’s are majorly back in fashion, so think a very minimal, very basic and very chic look. I went with this high on drama, high waist skirt with side slit with another trend that followed us into fall – the off shoulder top. A bold wine lip and nude accessories is all it too to complete this look.

Mani_October 2016_Neha Pandey Photography-2.jpgVelvet looks amazing in deep colours that associate itself with royalty: wine, burgundy, navy, forest green, black and purple are some color options to try. Truth is this look holds a certain vintage elegance to it, something like fashion guru meets stylish vampire.

Mani_October 2016_Neha Pandey Photography-3.jpgWhile I happened to go for a super-sultry look, you could also pick up a dope bomber/jacket or a sweet top instead. There’s no rule that says in order to wear velvet you have to look like you’re two seconds away from walking the ramp. The key element here is to go for great cuts, very sleek and architectural rather than slouchy, which tend to look cheap in velvet. Go for very good quality fabric, and then it’s up to you whether or not you do an elegant refined vintage inspired style or a more cool-borderline-kitsch-look.

Mani_October 2016_Neha Pandey Photography-8.jpgGive your fall winter 2016 wardrobe a velvet touch by wearing just a velvet scarf bound to a loose bow. Yes I’m completely into velvet this season. What about you?

How to Wear Accordion Pleats This Fall

Mani_October 2016_Neha Pandey Photography-42.jpg

This is definitely is the first time I’ve mentioned accordion pleats here on amillionbucks, and based on their timeless appeal, it probably won’t be the last! This skirt style experienced a revival this fall. Both mini and midi skirts featuring these tiny, ladylike folds are back in the limelight and are looking better than ever, thanks to a slew of current colours and pretty floral prints.

Mani_October 2016_Neha Pandey Photography-46.jpgPleats have moved far beyond the realm of schoolgirl uniforms, if you’ve had a chance to visit my favourite store Zara or any other high street brand such as Mango or H&M, they are all sporting variety of these skirts. Not only do these pieces add that much needed feminine touch, there’s a pleat to please everyone, ranging from precise knife pleats for a preppy vibe to petite folds for those with more ladylike sensibilities. I paired it with matching heels and a black top tucked in with a beautiful statement necklace for an evening look. Keep your make up light with a bright pout and you’re done. You can wear yours with sneakers or boots. It’s also the perfect travel companion as it tends not to crease!

Mani_October 2016_Neha Pandey Photography-40.jpg

Once you find the pleated skirt that is best for you – whether it’s tiny pleats or larger ones, a midi length or a more mini length, a bright color or something more classic – you can do a lot with it that will make you look amazing and extremely cool and fashion forward.

Reinvent the classics -White and gold combination

A classic white shirt is a must have wardrobe staple in every fashionistas closet. We’ve all heard that and some of us even follow that rule diligently. But how do you reinvent that white shirt and not let it become boring or monotonous. Don’t sweat, this is what I’m here to talk about. I’m pairing my classic white shirt with an unexpected twist. The gold pants paired with exaggerated shoulders!

mani_october-2016_neha-pandey-photography-64When it comes to metallic pieces, we tend to gravitate toward the safer options like bags and shoes. The shiny accessories and pair of sandals, flats, or boots allow us to add some shiny flair without it overwhelming your look. It wasn’t until I came across these metalic gold trousers from Zara last month. The key to wearing a head-turning metallic top or bottom is to style it with head-to-toe neutrals to keep the outfit grounded.

Mani_October 2016_Neha Pandey Photography-65.jpgA white shirt is a white shirt is a white shirt, right! Not exactly ! The organic cotton one from Johanna Ortiz is , with its wrap around belt is an elevated riff on a staple shirt. It’s also the perfect complement to my Gorgeous gold silk pants. They are high waisted which we all now know means small waistline and elongated legs. This pair has a textured look that gives it an added edge. I just can’t seem to get enough of this new season trouser style. It’s luxe. It’s classy and it’s gold.
