How to Travel Smartly or Economically?

Removing time for your extensive travel plans may be hard, but paying for them is even harder. However, dont let money shortage bog you down. With some research and lots of wanderlust, travel hacking is now possible. With the influx of efficient travel based search engines and travel hacks, drafting an economical travel plan has become much easier. Although these tricks help stretch your money to the maximum, they’ll also ask you to divert from your usual travel ways. But, hey! Just because one way is different than what you’ve been used to, it does not mean its bad.

Flight engines like TripAdvisor, Airbnb, Expedia or Triptaptoe are great sources to explore economical flight and hotel options and make bookings for lower fares. You can also redeem miles and points accumulated with the help of Miles and Get Points, for free flights and hotel rooms. You can smart your way and befriend local our International budget Airlines for lower fares. Also, pick long flight hauls instead of choosing a layover may be cheaper . Lastly, booking the two legs of your journey separately on your own may prove to be cheaper.

The number of travel opportunities you can bag by entering and winning the many contests made open to you, is fascinating. Other options include volunteering with or registering for exchange programs organised by your local Lions Club, Optimist Club or Rotary Club. Teaching English as a foreign language is another way of not only getting to travel, but also making some moolah. Lastly, inquire with relocation companies about any opportunity of transporting other people’s vehicles when they relocate.

For longer stays, especially with a big group, reducing accommodation costs is possible by renting an empty apartment or a condo with a kitchen. Couch surfing is another unconventional way to find cheap accommodation by arranging to sleep on a locals couch/guest bedroom.  However, a sense of adventure is a prerequisite for such an experience. You can also swap your house with someone else’s (Just like they did in the movie The Holiday) or be mutual hosts for each other instead of staying at a hotel. Lastly, you can approach your hostel manager and negotiate a deal to exchange some work for your room.

One of the smartest ways to travel is to get your hands on a casual job at the place you’re living in. By becoming a bartender, an au pair, hostel worker, waitress or a cruise ship worker, you can not only stay longer, but also fund your own travel, simultaneously. Make smart moves by taking advantage of your perks and discounts. Research beforehand about free festivals , events or free museum trips during your stay. Use groupons, student discounts and city tourist cards to get discounts or free access to tourist attractions.

  • Book in advance, do your research well and pick the cheapest day to fly out
  • Save a whole lot of money and dont check luggage, especially if you’re catching a lot of flights
  • Wear the weight by putting on multiple layers if clothes if you exceed the weight limitation on your carry-on bags.
  • Regularly read blogs written by local people and follow the travelling pros
  • Go Incognito to keep your search top secret to find cheap flights
  • Try to get good exchange rates on different currencies. Don’t exchange money at the airports because the rates are usually terrible.

Wish you a pleasant travel!

Fashion Tips on How to look thin around the Waist

Half of the world’s population is looking for a solution that is nowhere to be found. Doesn’t matter if you like the runway look or you follow the curvy movement, a small waist is needed in most of the beauty standards of our modern reality. While I can’t offer you a permanent solution (you’ll just have to exercise and eat healthy to keep your body fit), I can surely pass on the top fashion tips on how to make your waist look smaller.

Color Coding

Why is color such an important theme when it comes to fashion? Designers and brands spend hours on picking just the right shade for their design, and it’s not always about the trends. Sometimes, it’s also about the fit.

Here’s the deal. Light colors will make you appear bigger than you actually are. Dark colors, on the contrary, will make you look smaller. So, the best ways of showing off a small waist would be wearing a monochrome dark color dress or separates. If your top and bottom are of different colors, make sure the top is darker.

Another trick you can do is wear dresses with black cut-outs around the waist area, especially on the sides. There are many dresses out there with black side panels, and they’ve been designed for a special purpose; to make the customer look slimmer.

If you’re going with color blocking, make sure the lines are on the top and/or the bottom of your waist. Again, make sure the color of the waist area is darker than the rest.

Play with Prints

Image (26).jpgIt’s not just about colors; some prints are a complete taboo, if you need to make your waist look smaller. Do not ever wear horizontal stripes, they will make you look fuller. Pick vertical ones or make sure the shirt you’ve liked is really an exception and counter-affects your figure in some miraculous way.

Your stylist would also advise you to avoid small prints and large polka dots. These are the standard prints that fall into the slimmer or fuller categories. If you’re in love with a different print I have not covered here, I’m afraid you’ll have to act based on your intuition, the mirror in front of you, and an honest friend.

Watching your silhouette can make wonders to how your waist looks. Forget traditional waistlines, go with higher or lower waistlines to alter your silhouette.

Some clothing pieces are strongly fitted and structured: ever heard of wonder blazers? Dior usually makes some of the best fitted blazers, but you can, of course, find much more affordable options. These blazers are perfectly structured in the shoulder and hip area, thus making your waist appear smaller in comparison. A trick worth testing!

Accessories Are Game Changers

_MG_7368.jpgSome accessories like wide belts can do the same trick of a fitted blazer. The good news is that our fashion experience has gotten so rich, that you can dare to wear a wide belt over anything, even over a cardigan; you can still pull it off like a pro.

Plan B. If you don’t want your waist to make the news this evening, distract the viewers’ attention by investing in brightly colored jewelry, scarves or handbags. Let your waist area go behind the scenes and continue the show with the accessories.

High-Waist Bottoms

_MG_0036Are you concerned about that tummy? Or do you wish someone or something could just hold your waist together while you look all self-confident and sophisticated on a date? You need a nice pair of high-waist jeans.

Denim is a very firm fabric, which means it will look structured on your body and will not give away the flaws it’s hiding. Once you make it high-waist, you basically increase the area this fashion beast can cover. Same goes for fitted, high-waist shorts and skirts. Keep in mind to pick firm fabrics, otherwise your outfit might result in a baggy look, which is the exact opposite of what we’re trying to accomplish.

High Heels

_MG_7289.jpgEver heard the phrase “I’m not full, I’m just tall?” Practically, you can still be full-looking even if you’re tall, but visually, your height will compensate your waist. That is why there is a reason why high heels are still in fashion. Once you step up on them, they make your body look slick, your legs elongated, and your waist smaller. Flats, on the other hand, will make your body look shorter and your waist fuller.

Get the best results from this trick by wearing nude colors for high heels. The closer the color is to your skin tone, the more naturally they make you taller (as if they are extensions to your awesome legs).

Are you happy with these tricks? Lose no time and start testing. In the meantime, remember that these are short-term solutions to your problem. If you want your waist to look a certain way, you should eat healthy and exercise to get the desired effect. If not, learn to love your own body, because we are all unique. No one ever said all waists should look the same, because that’s boring, isn’t it?

10 ways to look taller- Part 2

Continuing where we left off, high waisted pants work for all body types.

The ultimate way to look taller is if you pair your high waist pants with sky high shoes. I always advise leaving that extra length at the bottom of your pants and not rush it to the tailor for alterations. Its a blessing in disguise. The pants cover the heel so it instantly adds 4 to 5 inch depending on the height of your wedges. I prefer wedges to sky high stilettos as they are much more comfortable to wear all day long.

manu (1 of 10)MONOCHROMATIC

Here I want to talk about the power of monochromatic looks. It could be an all black out or all white outfit, it doesn’t matter as long as its in the same color tone. I dont have a way of detailing it but it actually means creating the illusion of one solid color which in turn creates a long lean silhouette. Black as they say is a slimming color.

Now this ones a little tricky as there as good ones and bad ones and those are necklace chokers. It can actually enhance your outfit and also the length of your outfit and you also dont want to get it wrong because you dont want it to cut your outfit. I personally am a huge fan of these sleek modern looking dainty pieces. You wanna make sure that they sit right above your collarbone or a little below it. So you are actually drawing the eye making people focus on the top part of your body.

So for the most obvious one you want to wear short skirts or short shorts, but you want to wear them in a tasteful manner and you want to balance it out with a modest top or something more dressier for the evening. Short skirts show off your legs making them look longer and leaner. A black skirt is a must in every women’s wardrobe because it really goes with everything and they accentuate the bottom part of your body making them the focus point. These can make your legs look longer than they are.

My next and last point is showing more skin on the top part of your body. Its the same concept as the one above. You show off skin where you want people to see. another alternative is to add embellishments to your top. Its all about the way people look at you. You want to draw their eye upwards. If you wear a top with delicate details or a bare shoulder you instantly make them notice the top part of your body which is the most feminine and delicate part of a women’s body.

_MG_7399.jpgSo remember, always draw the eye upwards and its all about the illusion. Thank you guys, I hope these tips were useful and you will be able to use one if not all.

Let me know if you guys would like me to write tips and tricks such as these and I would love to help you out.

Have a wonderful weekend!!!

10 ways to look taller- Part 1

Hi everyone. So Ive been getting a lot of request from you guys on different ways to look taller. Unfortunately, I do not have the answer on how to grow taller but I do have some tricks and tips to make you appear taller. So today Im going to share with you 10 ways to look taller.

This one is the most obvious and also happens to be my favorite- Shoes. My favorite type of shoes to wear all year round are nude heels. They can be in the form of pumps, strapy sandals or just nude booties. Nude shoes can actually really elongate your legs because it is creating a monochromatic look. So the key trick is finding the right shade of nude shoes to match your legs. It doesn’t have to be the exact same color but the closest, the better. Christian Louboutin has a range of nude pumps to match different skin tones which is just fabulous. Other alternative to nude shoes is black pointed toe shoes. Pointed toe shoes elongate the legs adding about and inch or two.

manu (5 of 28)

I know I know you guys have heard me say this a million times already and by now you think I’m obsessed with stripes but vertical stripes actually make you look tall. It is the exact same trick as the red lips trick. Days that I dont feel like putting on a full face of make up, I only wear my sunscreen and a dash of red lips- my go to share is Ruby Woo by Mac. It instantly picks you up. So, the whole point is to bring the focus to that one feature, in this case if you want people to focus on a long lean line, then you want to wear vertical stripes. Vertical stripes will draw the eye up to down and down to up.

manu (12 of 28)HAIR UP

Another no so obvious trick is tying your hair up or cutting them short. This is because you want to shoe off another long feature of yours- your neckline. So if you are petite or on the shorter side, then a lot of hair around your neck can shorten your height. You want to pull back your hair nicely in a top knot which will actually add another extra 2-3 inches or just tie the hair back so you can see your neckline.manu denim (3 of 3)

Maxi dresses are not only great for summer months because its so easy breezy but they can actually make you look taller by creating a long lean line. Especially if you are able to pull off a monochromatic look. On top of that if there is a slit that shows off your legs, it can make you look really tall.

manu 2nd april final (1 of 9)PROPORTIONS

Its so important to know your proportions and dress up accordingly. I know so many women that are tall but actually look a lot shorter than they really are because they dont dress up according to their proportions. I also know women who are short but look extremely tall because they consider proportions while picking an outfit. For example, here i wore a high waisted wide leg pants with a crop top. High waisted pants give an illusion of really long legs. Not much to prove that.

_MG_0119So, this is it for the first part and I shall soon update part two of this blog post. Remember, they key is the draw the eye upwards and create illusion of height.

See you on the other side. Have a great day!

How to Ace your next Holiday Planning

Research says 33% of us stress out when planning a trip abroad. Stay zen with these tips I learnt while planning my last vacation.

Rethink your research strategy

I always do an extensive Instagram image search before committing to a holiday. Candid Insta-shots reveal more about a place than professional images of what the hotel looks like, places you must see and must eat at when in that city unlike the ones the tourist board wants you to see. I always feel these suggestions are sponsored. This tip came handy when I was in Amsterdam last week. I knew exactly what to expect from my hotel. How far it would be from the main square and what are the must visit sites and must eat dishes.

Or let someone else do the work….

Sign up for alerts from flash travel sale sites like and and goibibo etc. They have people trawling the web for the best deals (so you dont have to) and will even look out for additional perks, from a welcome bottle of champagne to free dinners. This is how I found out about this discount on a popular must do when in Amsterdam- #thepubcrawl. We got a massive discount on it and had to pay only 15EUR for the entire pub crawl and got goodies which included a free T shirt and free shots.

Clear your Cache

Always clear the search history on your computer before buying flights. Most sites use cookies to keep track of whether you’ve visited before and will hike up their prices each time you go  back  (the swines). Change your country of residence to the destination too. Airlines often have better rates for locals. Cleartrip offers one such feature where they notify you when the prices have changed on a specific route. Watch out for those.

Get flight savvy

Tuesdays are the cheapest days to book flights (Fridays being the most expensive), and generally the best fares are advertised 50 days ahead of departure. Flights between 6pm and midnight are also usually cheaper. And always web check- in and choose your seat wisely. Join your airlines reward programme (mostly free of charge) and you will always be rewarded first.

Bag 2 for 1

If you’re flying long haul and changing planes en route, ask your airline if there’s the option to extend your stopover free of change. You could end up having an NY city break on the way to the wine regions of California, or spend two days shopping in Dubai before reaching the Maldives.

Talk to the pros

For ultimate inspiration, visit travel shows or watch vlogs on youtube. Oh I cant tell you how helpful those vlogs can be when planning a vacation. From what to pack to what to eat and do. They cover almost everything. There’s no better way to get ultimate authentic insider tips.IMG_20160811_7.png
